Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a popular treatment for short and long term relief of pain and dysfunction that focuses on the whole person, not just the symptom. If you are suffering from long standing (chronic) or short term (acute) problems then consider Osteopathy as an effective treatment.

Treatment involves gentle, manual techniques – easing pain, reducing swelling and improving mobility.

Osteopathy is very effective as it is a way of detecting damaged or unbalanced parts of the body such as muscles, ligaments, nerves and joints. When the body is balanced and efficient, just like a well tuned engine, it will function with the minimum of wear and tear, leaving more energy for living. Osteopaths at WeaverHouse use many of the diagnostic procedures involved in conventional medical assessment and diagnosis. Osteopathy’s main strength lies in the unique way the patient is assessed holistically from a mechanical, functional and postural standpoint.

If you’ve not experienced Osteopathy treatment before please call WeaverHouse and we’ll gladly answer any initial questions you might have.

We also provide Osteopathy for children, Cranial Osteopathy and Equine / Canine Osteopathy

Osteopathy for infants and children

Babies & Children may suffer stresses & strains in their bodies due to the birth process. In order to reduce the size of the head the soft bones of the baby’s head overlap as it squeezes through the bony pelvis. Many babies are born with odd shaped heads as a result of this. Usually this corrects itself but occasionally, especially if the birth has been difficult, the moulding is retained & can result in compression & discomfort.

This can result in symptoms like;

Crying & Irritable: The baby may have a constant feeling of pressure in the head.

Feeding Problems: Difficulty in sucking as the nerves to the tongue may be irritated.

For babies and children we use Cranial Osteopathy, which is very gently, safe and effective. Specific gentle pressure is applied where necessary to release the compression.

On average 2 to 6 treatments are sufficient. This will vary according to the severity of the problem & the age of the child.  Your Osteopath will always advise of their treatment schedule recommendations, based on your own specific needs.
