Osteopathy

SYMPTOMS/CONDITIONS

Treatment involves gentle, manual techniques – easing pain, reducing swelling and improving mobility. Often, this involves manipulation which can result in an audible ‘crack’ which is simply the sound of gas bubbles popping in the fluid of the joints.

TREATMENT OVERVIEW

Osteopathy is a way of detecting and treating damaged parts of the body such as muscles, ligaments, nerves and joints. When the body is balanced and efficient, just like a well tuned engine, it will function with the minimum of wear and tear, leaving more energy for living. GOsC Osteopaths use many of the diagnostic procedures involved in conventional medical assessment and diagnosis. Osteopathy’s main strength lies in the unique way the patient is assessed holistically from a mechanical, functional and postural standpoint. Treatment is aimed at improving mobility and/or reducing inflammation by using gentle manual osteopathic techniques on joints, muscles and ligaments.

AFTERCARE

You may feel tired or sore for 24-48 hours after treatment. If advised, use contrast bathing over the area indicated by your Osteopath. Unless advised otherwise, keep moving GENTLY. Do not return to normal activity until advised by your Osteopath. If in doubt please ask.
