Counselling

Overview of Counselling
Bottled up feelings can be draining and can make every day living difficult. You do not have to be ill to benefit from counselling but if any of the above issues strike a nerve or you are quietly and perhaps even secretly worrying about something, then seeing a trained counsellor can help. Often support comes from family and friends, however there are times in our lives when those people can be too close and talking to a counsellor can help. Counselling can be particularly effective when difficult and sensitive issues are at
stake. Independent, neutral and professional, the Counsellor will respect your values and will support you in making changes and in accepting those things that cannot be changed. They do not make judgements but seek in complete confidence to do the following: -

  • Listen properly
  • Give you an opportunity to explore your feelings in a
    safe place
  • Help you to clarify and untangle your feelings
  • Provide you with greater insight into how you really think
    and feel
  • Help you express your emotions in your own way
  • Encourage you to gain fresh perspectives
  • Allow you to work through things at your own pace
  • Help you to come to terms with new or past experiences
  • Enable you to consider the consequences of various options
  • Help you to work out solutions that will work best for you
  • Help you to understand and experience the importance of
    emotional wellbeing
